An Island Chef Christmas Countdown 2025

An Island Chef Christmas Countdown 2025. This year, I have been talking about food again in a regular weekly slot on BBC Radio Jersey and Guernsey. For some of my December food chats, I am going to be talking about some alternative recipes to help spread the cost of festive dining and the preparation needed to ensure everything runs smoothly on the big day. For any listeners and followers of the blog, I thought I would collate all of my best Christmas recipes in one place.

From how to cook the perfect turkey to a festive mulled wine and all my favourite bakes, there are links to everything you need for the perfect Christmas. Festive French Toast or Eggs Hemingway for breakfast, through the best buttery mince pies and decorated Christmas cookies to alternatives to the roast turkey there is something for everyone, including Tandoori-style Turkey Burgers for a completely different take on your festive food. I even have some fantastic recipes for using up some of the leftovers.

The Perfect Christmas Dinner

My family always started our Christmas morning with a full English breakfast, and from then I don’t think the eating ever stopped through several courses of Christmas Dinner, well, actually lunch, but don’t get me started on which is correct. There was always a soup and a pate or a seafood cocktail. Next, the roast turkey, and a glazed roast ham with all the trimmings, stuffing, bacon and chipolata sausage rolls and pan gravy. All this served with creamy mashed and roast potatoes and bowls and bowls of vegetables.

Then came the traditional Christmas Pudding, flamed with brandy at the table and then cheese and biscuits with port. We then moved on pretty quickly to cakes and a cup of tea, and a running buffet of cold cuts, cheeses, salads and pickles. This was served alongside a Bûche de Noël, trifle and pavlova. Don’t worry, you don’t have to try to eat as much, but I have included lots of my favourite tried and trusted recipes for you to pick and choose to make your perfect Christmas food, and I even has some suggestions about festive food and drink pairing.
